Crystal’s First Blog Post
Hangin’ out at the ball fields……..
Dusty thinks I should start a blog. He’s crazy. I don’t have that much to say. What would I write about all the time? So, since I don’t have enough material to start my own blog, I thought I might borrow his every now and then.
And I do in fact have something I’d like to write about…baseball! (Dusty and Terry aren’t the only addicts in the family!) I absolutely love baseball season! I can’t wait to hang out at the ball fields. Caleb and Mason are both playing baseball this year. Each of them will have two games a week plus practices which means we could be at the ball fields every night of the week! Some people would say “You poor thing!” But truth be known, I love it!
I love the peacefulness at the games. It forces me to sit in a chair and be still. No dishes. No cooking. No cleaning. No homework. No laundry. No school work. No fighting. Only sitting and watching. I love the friends we get to see and visit with and the new ones we meet. I love the sounds of my kids playing and cheering, snow cones, hot dogs, and the heat. And I love watching those boys catch and hit the ball with pride! I can’t wait for baseball games. See you at the ballpark!

I don’t have kids of my own but love being at the ball park also. When I lived closer to family I was always going to my cousin’s games. And if she would send me a schedule I would still go to the touraments within a couple hours drive from me.
I’m the cool cousin because they think I do it for them. Really I go for me. I just love being there, watching them learn and grow, getting better each game. I love stadium dogs and weird sunburns from not get lotion on right or often enough. The lugging of coolers and the crazy stuff they come up with to do in between games.
I will miss all that all over again this year living away from family.
Hi Crystal! nice to see your face. I love baseball too, but I’m sad because both my boys (12 & 10) have chosen soccer. I love everything about baseball, but I am having to learn what there is to like about soccer. Have a great season!
Yay Crystal! You should blog…I would read it! I have never seen a mom love baseball season like you do. That’s so refreshing!

I just want to say I had never ever tried hypnotic trance on anyone until I bought that book and tried it on you, Crystal. Obviously my technique was a whoop-roaring success!
“Baseball.” “Keeping loving baseball.” “Repeat it when you awaken and as you go to sleep.” “Baseball.” “I love baseball.”
I think it’s working! Good job, me!
Cree! I have no comment about baseball. I just want to comment on your first blog post. It’s already waaaayyyy better than…well, good job, Cree!
Wow Wendy! Dad is gonna be mad. Your not so veiled criticism of his blog has got to sting!
By the way…what’s up with Crystal putting up that big ol’ honkin’ picture of herself? You don’t see me doing that! And it has clearly been air-brushed. Pathetic.
Welcome to the blogging world. I recently talked my wife in to writing on my blog. She finally gave in. You girls have a lot of wisdom to add.
We’re big baseball fans in our family too. We even made our own national holiday and took opening day off. We ate hotdogs, watched baseball and played wiffle ball with friends.
Are you kidding me? Do you really think I know how to put a picture on a blog? Seriously.
Hi Jenna! It’s good to hear from you. Mason almost picked soccer too!
I love the idea of our own national holiday for opening day! Next year, I am calling in sick.
I am happy for you that you love baseball so much. It’s a good thing you do in that family.
I am celebrating because this year we will NOT be at the ballpark in the heat this summer. Jonathan has been in AquaKids since last fall and we made him choose baseball or swimming. He choose swimming. (Honestly he is a much better swimmer than baseball player.) Jackson wants to play golf.
Have a snowcone for me.
Great post by the way!
Great to read your post Crystal. Baseball in Conway must be much different than places where I’ve lived. Oh, the kids are having fun and enjoying the game … but in the stands there are evil parents who believe that their child’s future MLB career must begin now! There’s yelling at the coaches and snarky remarks when someone’s child is picking their nose and misses a ball coming their way. And there’s always that one parent who thinks they should have been asked to volunteer (irony noted) to the coaching staff, but no one had the wisdom to notice their expertise. Oh the peaceful delightful summer evenings, the boys of summer, and the evil screaming cursing parents in the stands. That’s the real baseball!
Dust has out kicked his coverage.
Yea, Crystal, I thought I would have a lot to see on my blog, but it comes and goes. I have definitely slowed down. I need to write another one, but am uninspired at the moment.
Doug and I were talking about coming and see the boys play. All of my children played and I really miss it. I loved being at the field too. Please give us a schedule. I promise to be a good fan.
Writing skills are often best measured by the value perception of the reader. Given that you have 13 comments thus far and I note that Dusty averages “single numbers” let me put this in baseball terminology…”you got a hit”. Keep writing.
Sorry Dusty - coudln’t resist that one.
Crystal,
I stop by here everyonce in awhile when I want to read a cheesy joke, or to read how Dusty is one of the top preachers in the state. But I was pleasently surprised to see an uplifting, motivational post on baseball from someone that actually knows baseball.
Keep up the good work, I will visit more often in anticipation of seeing another one of your brilliant, insightful post.
And as far as the ‘big honkin’ picture’, (quote from one of your distractors) it was a nice change from seeing someone elses big honkin’ picture.
Dusty, I am still your number 2 fan, and do enjoy your post also. But Crystal blew you out of the water with this one.

15 comments.. wow
Now it’s 16 … this is amazing. Dusty - welcome to the title “assistant editor”
Crystal, you are beautiful! You haven’t aged a bit..I’m jealous!
Sam is also always trying me to do my own blog. As if I’m ready to add one more thing to the list!!! I TOTALLY agree with you about baseball. Last year we had 3 playing for the first time….2 games a week per, 2 practices a week per, thankfully we have grandparents to help us cover all the bases so at least somebody could be at their game. I REALLY, REALLY miss you. Email me!
Kelly, I would love to e-mail you! Can you give me your e-mail address? Mine is cryrush@gmail.com
